Our Favorite Teacher

My favorite teacher was Max Talaska. He had a very big impact on my life. He was responsible for sending me to Boys State when I was a junior. When I was a senior he called me in and asked me what I was going to do after high school. I told him I had no idea. He suggested that I go to school to become a gym teacher. I was the first person in my family to go to college. Because of the knee injuries I had in high school I wound up teaching math and social studies.

I has two favorite teachers, Miss
Ingerson and Miss McDonough. Both of these teachers where tough, but they cared and wanted all their students to succeed. Miss Ingerson
lived on N. Main and when in Jr. Hi. I would sometimes walk home with her and we would talk. What I
did not know at time but realized
years later that she was my therapeutist After Miss Ingerson
retired in 1955, I had the good
fortune to have Miss McDonough come
into my life and she carried on
where Miss Ingerson left off.

I only regret not having ever told
these two GREAT LADIES how much I
appreciated them.
