Pearl River was called "German Town" once

On Our website we have posted the 1930 Census for Pearl River. There were 644 people out of 2855 that were born in foreign countries. 230 people were born in Germany. Sweden was second with 64, then England with 58. Italy was the fourth highest group with 53. The others with more than twenty were Scotland 35, Poland 30 Ireland 28 Russia 20 and Canada 20. Other countries were 106. About 23% of the population was foreign born. If you look at the question where was your father born, Germany had 589, England 132, Italy 123, Sweden 114. Well over 50% of the population was either first or second generation Americans.
